Why Do You Want This?
Possible Downsides

I think in the future there should be a way to get rid of text books for good and to only have them available on computers.
I want this because I do not want to have to carry around books and buy them for each class. At App we rent them so we really cant do as we please with them anyways. I am not sure if it would actually improve learning, but I think it would help students.
If a student has to underline or highlight words to help them study they would not be able to. Also, there would have to be a way to make sure all students have access to a computer.
Laptops/internet use for each individual student and having books online
To eliminate the hassle of renting or carrying around books, having useful tools for information that may be needed, writing papers.
unnecessary distractions or tools that are not school oriented like facebook, twitter, etc.
Hoping to become a high school Spanish teacher, I would like to see more computer programs that allow students to practice speaking Spanish as homework. Somthing they could do online that would provide them with feedback as to whether it was well said or not.

As a student learning Spanish I would say that the practice speaking would be the thing that needed improvement the most. We have practiced writing and reading and vocab, but I feel like my oral skills are extrememly poor.

As with any technology, there is always the student who doesn't have access to a computer to internet at home. Also, there is always the computer that malfunctions or some sort of error in the program itself.
Technology should find a way to advance by making things more personal. Schools could advance by getting rid of textsbook as long as there was at least an online version. It would be better for teachers to use video chat for online classes for students who have trouble with learning just visually.
Things online are becoming horribly impersonal as technology advances and we are losing the ability to communicate in a more personal level. The net makes it difficult for us to ask questions such as "how" or "why"'s.
We could take the personal out of it even more by giving people a way to talk to people and see people without even actually ever having to meet them.

I think that in the future there should be a way to keep the old-fashioned style of teaching, but still involve the technology so that the students are prepared for the future.
I want this because I believe that the old-fashioned way of teaching is one of the best ways to learn, however I do believe we have to keep up with the time of and technology of the time therefore we will prepare them with the correct technology they will use in the future in class or even in work.
The students may not understand the technology therefore it will take them longer than other students in the class and hold people back.

I think that is is crucial for there to be a personal relationship between the teacher and their students. This provides the students with more confidence in the material that they are learning because the teacher can walk them through the process. If technology is going to be integrated as a major component within the classroom then I believe it should start at a simple level and only increase using programs that the teachers feel comfortable with using and that can easily be taught to the students.

The positives of using technology in the classroom would be that it would prepare the students for the computer-driven society that they will working in once they begin their careers.
If teacher-student interaction is eleminated completely then the students will not know how to properly work with or communicate with others in those same careers. The humanity of society would effectively be pushed to the curb.
